Short Flythrough of the green corridor - All camera sequences included in the scene
Decal shader with masking options
Had an absolute blast teaming up with Jack McKelvie and Awais Azhar on this free sample scene for FAB! The project was a fun (and sometimes tricky) one—mainly because the base scene had already been crafted with so much care by the incredibly talented Wiktor, Jakob, and Isac. My role was to help bring their vision to life, especially focusing on the green corridor.
We approached the scene with modularity in mind, building everything around a custom grid system based on multiples of 4 (32x32, 64x64, 256x256, 512x512, etc.). All custom assets; from walls and floors to PLBPs, were designed to fit within this grid, which made a huge difference in speeding up our workflow and keeping things clean and consistent.
I took the lead on creating multiple PLBPs for the modular piping systems, helping to structure and simplify the corridor builds. On top of that, I worked on flexible material setups for things like decals and glass, so the team could easily tweak them to match the environment. These advanced decals can be tweaked to fit all sorts of derelict environments. Huge thanks to Jakob for laying the groundwork with the original decal shader!
